Hello all!

A few questions on canon and historical context occurred to me and I was wondering if anyone could help with them? The topic is fairly seasonal, given the time of year.

Am I right in thinking that in Ring For Jeeves, there is either no mention of Bertie serving in WWII or it's hinted at that he didn't serve? Is there any mention/lack of mention of the same for Jeeves?

Setting RFJ aside and briefly dragging our beloved characters into the real world, can anyone tell me whether either Bertie or Jeeves would have been conscripted? There was certainly a period during which the British government conscripted most men between the ages of 20 and 41. Taking a fairly general view of the likely ages of both, this would seem to affect both Jeeves and Bertie. Also, would Bertie's class have affected this in any way? For instance, was there a trend for conscription to affect the lower classes before the upper classes?

I'm afraid that my grasp of WWII era social dynamics and politics is shallow at best. Also a copy of Ring For Jeeves is impossible for me to get my hands on at the moment. Really looking forward to hearing peoples thoughts and opinions on this!

I'm looking for a fic I've lost. I've tried all the possible tags on all the possible sites, still no luck. Bertie and Jeeves kiss for the first time in a rowboat, which promptly capsizes and deposits them both in the drink. Rocky is in unrequited love with Bertie, and at one point Bertie says "Oscar bloody Wilde!" when he recognizes one of Jeeves's quotations. (I am so tempted to refer to "John bloody Milton!" in my English lit class) Anybody know where this elusive beastie is or who wrote it?

Hallo there.

Here's a fic, but it requires a spot of explanation. Please read this before plunging ahead.

Some of you may remember a series of short little fics, mostly conversations, between Bertie, Jeeves, and Aunt Dahlia called 'What Aunt Dahlia Saw'. It was back in the New Year.

Well, I said back then that I was planning on writing another chapter, and maybe a prequel. Well, two more short chapters are just about done, and a very long prequel is about 70% complete also.

So, I'm posting Chapter 5 here, with Chapter 6 following in about a day or so, in the hope that this will get me fired up to get that prequel all finished and ready to post as well!

Even if you vaguely remember the series, you probably won't remember much of the details. This chapter isn't going to be one of those things that reminds the reader where they last left off, so if you don't want to be scratching your heads in bewilderment I strongly recommend reading Chapters One - Four first. I very recently edited some of those chapters slightly, tightening them up here and there, as it were, so even if you've read them before the chances are they'll be a bit different.
